What is fever in babies?

Fever is when the body temperature rises above normal.

(usually above 100.4 °F for 38 °C ).It is often a sign that

the body is fighting an infection.  

How to Manage Fever in Babies

1. Check temperature 
Use a digital thermometer to check your baby’s temperature accurately.

2. Keep the Baby Hydrated 
Give the extra fluid, such as breast milk, formula, or ORS to prevent dehydration.

3. Dress Lightly
Dress Your Baby in light breathable clothes and keep the room comfortably cool.

4. Sponge Bath
Use lukewarm water to gently sponge your baby’s body, especially the hands, feet, and forehead. 

When to see a Doctor

  • Fever above102°F ( 38.9 °C )
  • Fever in Babies younger than 3 months.
  • Fever lasting more than 3 days.
  • Baby is very sleepy or difficult to wake.
  • Baby is not drinking enough fluids.
  • Difficulty in breathing, rash, or vomiting.
